The South Walton Wine Festival is one of the finest events that you can attend on the Emerald Coast. They not only have an incredible selection of over 800 wines, but in addition they also carry the world’s finest foods! Including; cheeses, sushi, olives, charcuterie and last but certainly not least, confections. The Savor South Walton Culinary Village encompasses a multitude of food tastings, food and wine pairings and exclusive educational and entertaining tasting seminars from noted industry experts and renowned chefs.

With the South Walton Wine Festival convenient location  being in Grand Boulevard, it is conveniently located to everywhere you are staying on the Emerald Coast whether you are staying in the South Walton – 30A area, or even if you are staying in the Destin Miramar Beach area!

To top off the food and drinks, Saturday and Sunday at the South Walton Wine Festival will be the Nashville Songwriters Florida Sunshine Tour. The top songwriters from Nashville will be playing on the Main Stage creating a fun and light atmosphere for the weekend!

4:00-6:00 Wine Makers and Shakers – Chans Wine World in Destin hosts honored winemakers and shakers from some of the top wineries in the world and taste great wines.

6:00 – 9:00 Craft Beer and Spirits Jam – Taste and enjoy specialty craft beers and spirits from the hottest breweries and distilleries in the country. Meet the people who make these lively libations. Listen to some live music and enjoy some great food!

Saturday  April 29th

11:00 – 1:00 VIP Tasting – SOLD OUT –  For the ultimate wine experience, the VIP Wine Tasting has top wine celebrities presenting and pouring rare and collectible wines. Food tastings from fabulous Grand Boulevard and South Walton restaurants.

1:00 – 5:00 – Grand Tasting – It’s all about the wine! It truly is all about the quality, diversity and scope of wines being offered and the skills and relevance of the people bringing them to you. From the most prestigious wineries on the west coast, Don Hartford, Founder and CEO of Hartford Family wines and CEO of Jackson Family Wines, presents a Pinot Noir focused seminar examining the terroir of California AVA’s – American Viticultural Area. Year after year, Hartford wines rank among the most sought-after collectables from California. Since the 1994 vintage, the Hartford’s have built the winery’s reputation on limited-production, handmade, single-vineyard Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Old Vine Zinfandel from some of Northern California’s greatest vineyards. The history of the Massolino family and their wine became entwined with the history of Serralunga d’Alba in 1896 when Giovanni Massolino founded the estate. Giovanni was the very first person to bring electricity to the village.  A few generations later, in the 1990s, Franco joined the family enterprise. His work condenses the experience of an entire family and the ambition of a new generation, determined to make an important contribution to the innovation of oenological and agronomical techniques and to the image of the estate in Italy and abroad.  Enjoy the refreshing whites and classic reds of this region while Franco shares his family’s story with you.

Tommy Brunett, Iron Smoke Whiskey

A really special treat from rocker turned whiskey-maker, Tommy Brunett, founder of Iron Smoke Whiskey. As the touring guitarist with Modern English (I’ll stop the world and melt with you – that song!) in the 80s, Tommy played concerts throughout the world. He takes center stage here to take the audience on his adventure from rock n’ roll to award-winning whiskey. A natural raconteur, Tommy still rocks with his band, The Tommy Brunett Band (you can see them mainstage at Friday night’s Craft Beer & Spirits Jam).

3:00 Destin Charity Wine Auction – This unparalleled charity event raises money for children in need in Northwest Florida and has been recognized as one of the Nation’s ‘Top 10 Charity Wine Auction in the U.S.’ by Wine Spectator Magazine for the last four consecutive years. A local institution that’s not to be missed, Grayton Beach's Red Bar is quintessential 30A. Known for its fun and funky bohemian beach shack vibe, The Red Bar’s a great spot for food, cocktails and live music.

The simple but varied menu includes pasta with crawfish and shrimp, panné chicken and mashed potatoes, stuffed eggplant, crab cakes and fish of the day. Oh, and don’t forget about the salad – it is the best anywhere on the Emerald Coast!

The Red Bar Jazz Band plays almost nightly during dinner. The party gets cranked up a notch after the dinner crowd thins, creating a more funky atmosphere. Don’t be surprised to spot celebrities here late at night. But please be cool, everybody just wants to chill at The Red Bar.

Gulf Place Town Center is shopping & then some!

Gulf Place is an eclectic collection of neighborhood shops and services, walking distance from Old Florida Village, and just across from the white, sugar-sand beaches of the Scenic 30-A Corridor.

The nearby beach also offers plenty of inspiration for The Artists at Gulf Place, a collection of colorful huts here that showcase a variety of local talents.

In addition to great meals and drinks, La Playa features live music on their open-air patio across from the Gulf many nights a week even in the cooler months when table-side fire pits help take the chill out of the air and offer up a pleasing ambiance for unwinding at the end of the day.

If you’re here on a Sunday, try lunch at Pizza by the Sea, and then head over to Gulf Place’s green and join the locals for a few friendly games of kickball.

Paddle Board!

30A has some of the best waterways on the Emerald Coast between Coastal Dune Lakes and all of the state parks there are just so many places to go, so grab your stand-up paddle board and get going!

YOLO rents inflatable stand-up paddle boards for half-day and daily rates, perfect for transporting them around town without strapping them to your car! If you haven't tried it yet, it is truly one of the coolest ways to experience the Emerald Coast!

 

Bike 30 A

Eighteen miles of bike paths along the beach and coastal dune lakes makes exercise a fun and interesting event.

If you are staying with Emerald Coast Vacation Rentals Big Fish Bike Rentals  is included with the amenities package and is the best way to see 30A! Hop on the wonderful scenic bike path that stretches the entire 18 mile length of Highway 30A and enjoy the beautiful sights of Grayton State Park and views of the Gulf while peddling through iconic neighborhoods. You can rent bikes by the day, but if you’re staying somewhere along 30A you might want to rent them for the entire week. After one ride along the Timpoochee, your bike may become the preferred mode of transportation at the beach.
